Mürzsteg alpsThe Mürzsteg Alps are a mountain range of the Northern Limestone Alps, in the Eastern Alps, Austria. The range is part of the Styrian-Lower Austrian Limestone Alps and is separated from its neighbouring groups. The majority of its rocks date to the Triassic period and include Wetterstein Dolomite, Hallstatt Limestone and Mürztal strata.
Preiner Gscheid PassPreiner Gscheid Pass is a high mountain pass in the Austrian Alps in the Bundesland of Lower Austria. The pass connects Kapellen and Reichenau an der Rax. It is one of the iconic attraction in this area and offers beautiful views of this area.
HöllentalThe Höllental in Lower Austria is a narrow valley between the steep limestone massifs of the Schneeberg and Rax through which the River Schwarza flows. It stretches for a total of 16.5 km between Schwarzau im Gebirge and Hirschwang and, because of its natural beauty, it belongs to the Natura 2000 region of Northeastern Border Alps. Hohe VeitschThe Hohe Veitsch is the highest mountain in the Mürzsteg Alps, in the Austrian state of Styria. It is a limestone massif, rich in wildflower meadows and good views, and runs from west to east to the Klein-Veitsch Alm, a distances of around 5.5 km. There is also a plateau walk via Seeboden to the Kleinveitschalm.
Rax CablewayA beautiful cable way starting at Hirschwang at the north-eastern foot of the mountains and the first in Austria (construction began in 1925), takes visitors to the extensive, high plateau of the Rax at a height of about 1,500 m. This area is a particular favourite with hikers from Lower Austria and Vienna. The steep sides of the plateau offer climbing tours of various difficulty.
