Nijmegen railway bridgeThe Nijmegen railway bridge is a Truss bridge spanning the River Waal, connecting the city of Nijmegen to the town of Lent in the Netherlands.
Veur-LentVeur-Lent is a peninsula in the river Waal . The so-called city island is located in the Dutch municipality of Nijmegen , north of the city center. The island can be reached on foot from the Waalbrug , the Spoorbrug and the De Oversteek . From Lent, a road bridge, De Lentloper , and a pedestrian and cyclist bridge, the Zaligebrug, were built to Veur-Lent.
De OversteekThe Crossing , also called City Bridge, is a bridge for car traffic over the Waal, in Nijmegen. The road over the bridge has been named General James Gavinsingel since 2016. The river crossing was opened in November 2013 and is located west of the two existing Nijmegen bridges. On the south side, the bridge connects to the Verlengde Energieweg, on the north side to the Graaf Alardsingel.
KruittorenThe Kruittoren is a remnant of the old ramparts of Nijmegen and is located on the Parkweg , on the edge of the Kronenburger Park . The tower was founded in 1426 and is about 30 meters high. In the nineteenth century , when the fortifications were sold, the state deliberately kept the tower in ownership to prevent the tower from being demolished. The tower was owned by the Government Buildings Agency until January 15, 2016 , but was then transferred to the National Monuments Organization.
KronenburgerparkThe Kronenburgerpark is a park in the center of Nijmegen . It is close to the station and the Lange Hezelstraat . Where the park meets the Parkweg are the remains of the medieval ramparts with the Powder Tower. There are three old ramparts in the park : De Kruittoren, St. Jacobstoren and De Roomse Voet. The Powder Tower was built in 1425-1426 as part of the second city wall, which formed a corner at this point. The tower is about thirty meters high.
WaalbrugThe Waalbrug is an arch bridge over the Waal River in Nijmegen, Gelderland, the Netherlands. The full length of the Waalbrug is 604 metres, the middle of the arch being about 65 metres. Unlike many other bridges from the same period and with the same construction, like the IJsselbrug near Zwolle, the Graafsebrug and the bridge near Arnhem, the Waalbrug is an arch bridge in the literal sense: all forces truly work on the two pylons.
