Gemini Peak got its name from the two distinct summits that make up the peak, which resemble two Gemini twins. The best time to visit Gemini Peak is therefore during the summer months, when the weather is more stable and conditions are ideal for hiking. 

1. Make sure to pack plenty of water and food, as there are no amenities at the top of the mountain ,and Wear appropriate clothing and footwear for hiking, as the terrain can be challenging in places.
2. Do not attempt to climb the mountain if you are not physically fit, as it can be dangerous.
3. Leave no trace by packing out all trash and being mindful of your impact on the trail.
4. Stay on the trail - Wandering off-trail can be dangerous and damaging to fragile ecosystems.
5. Take some time to explore the area around the summit, as there are several interesting trails to follow.
6. Respect the Peak and any closures that may be in place. Remember that this is a natural area and take only pictures, leave only footprints..
7. While there are a number of ways to hike to the summit of Gemini Peak, the most popular route starts from the trailhead at the south end of the parking lot. From there, it is a moderate hike of about 4 miles round trip.

1. At 12,365 feet, Gemini Peak is the 97th highest peak in Colorado in the Mosquito Range. 
2. The summit offers views of the nearby 14,000-foot peaks of the Sawatch Range, as well as the Continental Divide. 
3. There are a number of hiking trails that lead to the summit of Gemini Peak, including the popular Fourmile Creek Trail.

5. Gemini Peak is made up of Precambrian metamorphic rocks that were once part of an ancient ocean floor. 
6.  The south face of Gemini Peak is one of the steepest in Colorado, with a slope of over 60 degrees. 
7. From the summit of Gemini Peak, hikers can enjoy views of the nearby towns of Alma, Fairplay, and Buena Vista. 

The summit can be reached in a few hours, but most visitors spend at least a full day exploring the area.

To reach Gemini Peak, take Highway 285 south from Denver. After approximately an hour, you'll see a sign for the trailhead on the left side of the road. The hike to Gemini Peak is around seven miles round trip and is considered to be moderate in difficulty.

There is no entrance fee to explore this beautiful location. 

It is open to the public for hiking and climbing from 8 AM to 8 PM.
