GaustatoppenThe highest mountain in the Vestfold og Telemark county and is famous for its mesmerizing views, as one can see an area of approximately 60,000 km², one-sixth of Norway's mainland. The summit is accessible on foot in the summer, on a rocky pathway of medium difficulty, although the southern side of the mountain is very dangerous and inaccessible. Heddal Museum has various buildings representative of the history of local farming dating from the Middle Ages and up to the 1930s. The summit is most easily reached by following a marked trail from the parking lot at Nordstul, 3 to 4 hours hike in the summer.
