About East Renfrewshire Council
East Renfrewshire is one of 32 council areas of Scotland. Until 1975, it formed part of the county of Renfrewshire for local government purposes along with the modern council areas of Renfrewshire and Inverclyde. Ballageich Hill is 333 metres high with a prominence of 66 metres. Oneof the iconic locations or a holiday. A good trekking destination and also it offers so many beautiful views too.

Cathcart Castle Golf ClubThis beautiful golf club was established in 1895 and is one of the oldest in the area. Located on undulating parkland, the course offers a picturesque outlook - from just about anywhere on the course there are superb views out to the North and West. The course is surrounded by picturesque and panoramic views of the City of Glasgow, and you can also enjoy the fine views towards the North West and Loch Lomond.

Corse HillLocated on the border of East Renfrewshire and South Lanarkshire Council Areas, Corse Hill rises to a height of 376m within the Whitelee Forest, 4 miles south of Eaglesham. Its summit is marked by an Ordnance Survey triangulation pillar. One of the iconic location which offers some adventure activities too.

Cowan ParkA beautiful public park located on Darnley Road a half-mile east of Barrhead in East Renfrewshire. The park includes playing fields, tennis courts and a children's play area. A war memorial was unveiled in 1922. The area now occupied by the playing fields served as Barrhead Aerodrome between 1909-11. The avenue of lime trees near the bandstand was the gift of Provost Andrew Shanks to mark the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.

Stretching from the busy M77 motorway and the suburban town of Barrhead, Dams to Darnley offers a variety of landscapes and trails for a walk in Glasgow. it is one of the newest country parks in Scotland.

Duncarnock Fort (The Craigie)Duncarnock Fort (known locally as The Craigie) is a 204 m high craggy hill on the banks of Glanderston Dam. There was an iron age fort on the summit, and at present, visitors could enjoy panoramic views over greater Glasgow from the summit. Since 1981 Duncarnock Fort has been classified as a Scheduled Monument in the Scottish Monument Lists.

Greenbank GardenGreenbank Garden is a 2.5-acre 18th century walled garden in Carolside, Clarkston, East Renfrewshire, Scotland, owned and operated by the National Trust for Scotland and open to the public. It is situated about six miles from the centre of Glasgow. The garden, which is included on the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland, surrounds Greenbank House, a Category A listed building. The house has sixteen rooms, and also barns and stables.

Loch LiboA long, shallow freshwater loch with aspen growing in the shallow waters and a hillside cloaked in mature sycamore and ash woodland. The Lugton Water has its source from the southern end of loch, running 14 miles before reaching its confluence with the River Garnock near Kilwinning. The loch is now owned by the Scottish Wildlife Trust (SWT) and is managed as a nature reserve.

Mearns CastleA majestic ruin of four storey, rectangular tower house built in 1449 by the powerful Maxwell family. It was ruinous by the nineteenth century but was later restored and used as a church until the 1970s when a dedicated building was constructed directly abutting the old castle. The castle has been restored and is now part of the Maxwell Mearns Castle Church. It also gives its name to nearby Mearns Castle High School.

Neilston PadNeilston Pad is a mountain summit in the Ayr and Sanquhar to the River Clyde region in the county of East Renfrewshire, Scotland. Its highest point is 261 metres and is characterised by a relatively flat summit plateau surrounded by steep slopes and distinctive forestry on its eastern side. Its odd shape and prominence make it easily identifiable and visible from many areas in Glasgow.The area is managed by Elderslie Estates.

Overlee Playing FieldsOverlee Playing Fields, is a public park in Stamperland, Clarkston, East Renfrewshire, south of Glasgow, Scotland. The Park contains four football pitches, a large playground, a woodland area and Overlee Family Centre, completed in 2021.

Ryat Linn ReservoirThis reservoir was built in 1847-8 under the powers of the 1846 Act. The reservoir covers 8.5 hectares and can hold 12 upto million cubic feet of water. One of the iconic location which offers you a scenic view of the nature.

White LochWhite Loch is a small body of fresh water located in East Renfrewshire, Scotland. The loch is approximately 0.5 kilometers long and 0.5 kilometers wide, fed by several small streams. The loch is popular with swimmers and paddleboarders. The surrounding area is also popular with cyclists, as the loch is situated in a beautiful and tranquil setting.

Whitelee Windfarm Visitor CentreWhitelee is the largest onshore windfarm in the UK and the second largest in Europe. Its 215 turbines are capable of generating up to 539 megawatts of electricity on a windy day. It is also home to the unique Whitelee Windfarm Visitor Centre, offering a hands-on interactive experience for all, bringing renewable energy to life.
