't Roegwold't Roegwold has been an artificially constructed nature reserve in the municipalities of Midden-Groningen and (for a small part) Appingedam in the area of the Hunze en Aa's water board in the low-lying area of Duurswold in the Dutch province of Groningen . The area is managed by Staatsbosbeheer .
De OnlandenThe De Onlanden area is located in the north of Drenthe and is approximately 2500 ha. big. The name chosen in 2009 is due to the combination of large-scale nature development and large-scale water storage , which makes part of the area 'onland' again. The official credo for the project that led to the design of the area is 'Wet nature for dry feet'.
De Onlanden, Madijk, EelderwoldeThe De Onlanden area is located in the north of Drenthe and is approximately 2500 ha. It is the result of a redevelopment project near Peize, which covers 6000 hectares. The aim of this project is to improve the agricultural structure, but at the same time to accelerate the construction of nature reserves and to realize a large water storage area.
Doolhof Landgoed De BraakThis is a 29-hectare estate of Natuurmonumenten on the north side of Paterswolde , consisting of park forest, meadows and mixed forest. At the beginning of the 19th century, the landscape-style park forest was designed by the landscape gardener Roodbaard, with winding lanes and graceful ponds. There is a maze and berceau in De Braak. Nearby, the estate is known for its rookery of up to 400 pairs, and the blue heron colony of 30 pairs. The centuries-old trees serve as shelter for many bats.
KardingebultKardinge is the name of a sports center, the Sportcentrum Kardinge , of a nature and recreation area Kardinge managed by Natuurmonumenten and of a transferium, P+R Kardinge. The Kardinge nature and recreation area alternates between forests, meadows, lakes and swamps, with opportunities to experience nature and for walking, rollerblading, running and swimming. The area functions as a neighborhood park for the surrounding city districts.
KropswolderbuitenpolderThe Kropswolder Buitenpolder is a nature reserve and a former water board of approximately 260 hectares in the municipality of Midden-Groningen. Former farmland has been transformed into a nature reserve here in the 20th century. In the early 1990s , the first pools were created and an old meander of the Hunze River was excavated. The area can function as a water storage area in case of extreme flooding.
Meerschap PaterswoldeMeerschap Paterwolde is a partnership of the municipalities of Groningen and Tynaarlo and until 1 January 2019 the former municipality of Haren . The Meerschap is responsible for managing the area around the Paterswoldsemeer. The Meerschap manages the Paterswoldse lake, the Hoornsemeer , the Hoornseplas and the surrounding recreational and nature areas.The powers of the Meerschap are laid down in the Joint Regulations Act .
Natuurgebied AppelbergenAppelbergen is the name of a former military training area and today a forest with heather and peat remnants east of Glimmen , in the province of Groningen. In the forest is a restaurant Pancake House Paviljoen Appelbergen, near the lake which is located in the middle of the forest. This is the remnant of a larger circular lake that is now an almost impassable swamp . In the past there was also an outdoor swimming pool , of which a few remains are still visible.
OnnerpolderThe Onnerpolder is a nature reserve and a former water board in the province of Groningen. The Oostpolder and the Onnerpolder have traditionally been real meadow bird areas. Nationally, meadow birds are declining drastically and Het Groninger Landschap is taking a number of measures to prevent this in the Oost- and Onnerpolder.
SassenheinSassenhein is a private nature reserve in the municipality of Groningen , located south of the village of Haren. The area consists of two lakes , the Noordplas and the Zuidplas. There is a pavilion at the Noordplas. The lakes are especially popular with fishermen and nature lovers.
SelwerdSelwerd is a residential area in the city of Groningen and a neighborhood within the Noordwest district of the Dutch municipality of Groningen. Selwerd was originally the name for an area north of the city of Groningen. Since the 1960s, part of that area has been a residential area of the city.
VennebroekVennebroek is a 17 hectare estate north of Paterswolde , adjacent to the Friesche Veen estate. The estate consists of grasslands and beech and oak avenues. What is special is that there are almost 200 species of mushrooms here, including the rare evening crimson mushroom and a sweet chestnut that is about 350 years old and has a circumference of 4.7 meters. A large beech tree has a branch that bends so far that it touches the ground and takes root again.
WesterbroekstermadepolderThe Westerbroekstermadepolder is a nature reserve and former water board in the basin of the Hunze, a small river on the border of the northern Dutch provinces of Groningen and Drenthe. The polder is owned by the Het Groninger Landschap foundation. A good trekking destination and also there are so many other opportunities too.
